What happens after CDS exam?
It is essential to clear the CDS cutoff in order to appear for SSB Interview. If the candidate manages to clear the SSB interview then he/she will be appearing for the document verification and medical examination. After that, the candidate will be sent to the academy for training to become an officer.
What is SSB after CDS?
Services Selection Board Interview (SSB Interviews), also called as “Intelligence and Personality test” is conducted by SSB Board, Ministry of Defence. Those who clear the first stage (Either CDS or NDA) have to undergo SSB interviews, spread over a period of 5 days. This stage comprises two sub-stages.
Is CDS a permanent job?
As the name suggests in Short Service Commission the candidate can be an officer for 10 years which can be extended till 14 years. After 14 years the officer will be given the option to shift to the permanent commission which is the Indian Army.

You won’t be eligible to apply for IMA, INA and AFA in 2023. But you can apply for OTA in 2021. 2022, 2023 so you will have 3 attempts for IMA, INA and AFA if you are male candidate. For OTA you have 5 attempts left.
Which branch is best for CDS?
Naval Academy B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering. Air Force Academy B.Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.
Can I join IAS after CDS?
Further, you can surely appear for UPSC CSE and be an IAS Officer. There is no such restriction to do so.
Which degree is best for CDS?
For the CDS exam, applicants can be from any stream but for entry to the Air Force and Navy, candidates should have studied Physics and Mathematics up to Class 12.
