What is the format of UPSC?
It comprises 2 MCQ-based papers that are conducted on a single day. General studies paper 1, consists of 100 questions of 2 marks each. General Studies paper-2 (CSAT) consists of 80 questions of 2.5 marks each. However, CSAT is a qualifying paper.

Is UPSC very tough?
It is indeed immense and contains a diverse range of subjects, unlike many other exams where you need expertise only in one or two subjects. If you look at the success rate in the IAS exam, you will understand why it is considered one of the toughest exams in India and some say, the world.
Are writing pads allowed in UPSC?
Carry a valid ID Card, 2 passport size photographs, and 2-3 black ballpoint pens. Always carry a writing pad.
